Someone told me the other day that I'm not practicing Dadaist ethos, but punk ethos. One key difference between punk and Dada is that the Dadaists were pacifists and the punks were not.
I respectfully disagree with this assessment. Dadaists are confrontational pacifists. We use deadly weapons to speak truth to power. Words, images, our thoughts and minds.
These are the most dangerous things that have ever been.
Dada is an infection, a weapon of mass and mutually assured destruction. It is also nothing. It is also pure shit. It is trash. A bar of soap, a flat tire, a terrible movie, that feeling of being watched.
But it is also life, everything that is ugly and terrifying and beautiful, often all at once.
And if you don't know that... you don't know Dada.
