Dissent is participation

The thing you have to remember about Dadaism—and why it's so satisfying—is that it's as much about trolling the art world with critical commentary as it is about contemplating nothing and making meaningless art.

And that's why I see practicing Dadaists as a sort of warrior monk. You see, someone who practices the method can take apart anything you say, and use your own words, thoughts, and opinions against you, without changing them to make a critical point about what you've said, and how you feel about the world.

A Dadaist is under no moral obligation to make sense, or be rational, or serious, or reasonable, and most importantly, they will contradict themselves. If in the middle of a "serious" discussion with "serious" people, a Dadaist decides to start speaking in a language that only they understand, you have been insulted... and blessed.

It will infect you.
It will change you.

In fact, if you've read this far... it's already too late.

You are already one of us.
Dissent is participation!

The process of transformation through Dadaism comes as part of the method. If you practice it, you will be transformed into a magical troll goddess unicorn with a fascination for soap, and an unquenchable need to stomp on someone's unearned smugness.

In that way, Dada is the art of disgust.

It's the art of turning the world upside down, and deconstructing everything you see and hear, like a ninja clockmaker who's had too much coffee on any given morning.

The process involves critical engagement. It means understanding the why of art, and any argument about art, better than the people making it... and then turning that argument on its head, because that's just good fun.

Dada is eternal and natural. The overwhelming majority of Dadaists who are practicing the method have no idea what Dadaism is, or that they're even doing it.

It is art without reason or standards.
It is everything artful that is looked down upon.
It is the art where art dares not tread.

Dadaism is screaming into the void, just to laugh at your own meaninglessness.

It is irony.
It is nothing.

It cannot be stopped.

And that is why it continues to be dangerous.
