When learning a new language stops being difficult

So I've been brushing up on my Go skills, filling in some of the gaps in my knowledge. Taking a second Todd Mcleod course. I like him. I think the era of me being challenged by learning advanced techniques, or struggling to understand concepts is over. Go is the 32nd programming language I've picked up from nothing, and I feel like I'm reasonably fluent in it these days.

What's upsetting is just that though. I'm not struggling. I'm not really trying anymore. I don't need to push myself like I used to, in order to get something to work. I'm not even shaky at debugging other people's work in entirely new platforms anymore.

When I learned C, which is simpler than Go... I struggled with it. I banged my head bloody on some of it. God, it was frustrating. And to make matters worse, documentation on C is all over the place.

The first language I learned as a professional programmer was Visual Basic. But even that took me a year to master.

That doesn't really happen to me anymore.

I go from zero to proficient much faster than I used to.

If you can build a CRUD application with it, I can usually get up and running in a day, fully fluent in three weeks, masterful in six months, and super god powers in a year.

It all feels so natural now. I miss having to work at it.
