Picking up a pencil again

Shortly after Stable Diffusion was released, I was inspired to pick up a pencil again. I hadn't drawn anything since about 2010, when I was in a motorcycle accident that flattened my hands.

I had so much bullshit in my head, so much art world horseshit about "quitting art." Like any of it was choice.

The obvious problem with using my hands to actually draw something, was and is pain. Even with a mouse, it still feels like having my hands smashed by bricks on every joint.

And the tablet is even worse, but I think doing it with a mouse for as long as I did got me used to the idea of it.

When people tell you to "pick up a pencil," they’re doing so from a standpoint where the pain isn't absolutely excruciating.

Heh heh, anybody can do it... right?

Though, if we're being honest... I kinda like the pain of it, even if it's about as pleasant as putting your hands through a meat grinder.

We suffer for our art, whatever.
That part isn't important.

When Stable Diffusion came out, just shortly after I realized "just a few words" was a lie, I discovered that it didn't really take much to totally derail an AI. And I was enamored with the fluidity of the medium. I still am. It's magical if you know how to turn it sideways.

My practice uses adversarial "noise paintings" to do that. And I love every second of it.

It's interesting to contrast and compare how far I've come, since I "picked up a pencil" again and started doing this every day.
