Weekend project: Wordling 5.2
A faithful re-implementation of WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS, using Go and Bubble Tea, targeted at Linux. It's kind of a return to childhood project for me. I used WordPerfect for everything when I was a kid. Did so much writing with it.
So, as one does, I set my Codex agent loose on it, reviewing specifications, tutorials, manuals, and documentation.
This new version is going to re-create the entire workflow and experience of WordPerfect 5.1, once again forking the universe and asking what if.
Right now, the document workflow is in, and I'm working on the quirks of the ui, and the printer drivers.
Surprisingly, I haven't seen any compatibility curveballs yet.
The only totally new feature I'm adding is PDF support.
But the clone should be 100% file format compatible with the original.
If all goes well, I expect to have it done sometime next week, or earlier.
